Signature Resize to 50KB

Get your Aadhaar or PAN signature upload ready. Resizes to 140x60 px, compresses under 50 KB. Free, browser-based.

Quick start

Done in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Upload your signature image

Select your signature file. JPEG, PNG, and WebP all work. Even a photo of your signature taken on a smartphone works fine.

  2. 2

Scaled to 140x60 and compressed within 50 KB

Your signature is scaled to 140x60 pixels and compressed within 50 KB. Transparent backgrounds are converted to white automatically. Runs fully in your browser.

  3. 3

Download and attach to your application

Download the JPEG and attach it to your Aadhaar update form or PAN card application. The file size and format will be accepted by both portals.

Requirements

Digital Signature Requirements (50 KB)

Aadhaar online services and PAN card portals accept a scanned signature at 140 x 60 px, JPEG format, under 50 KB. The 50 KB limit is generous compared to exam portals, so quality is generally good at this size.

Dimensions
140 × 60 px
Format
JPEG
Max file size
50 KB
Resolution
96 DPI
Background
Plain white paper only. Avoid gel pens that smear or ballpoint pens with very thin ink.

Additional requirements

  • Sign with a black or dark blue ink pen on plain white paper. Avoid gel pens that smear when scanned.
  • Give your signature enough space on the page. A 10 mm white border on all sides avoids edge clipping after resizing.
  • Scan at 200 DPI. A camera photo also works if the lighting is even and the image is sharp.
  • Plain white paper only. Grid paper, lined paper, or watermarked stationery affects the output quality.
  • Transparent PNG backgrounds are filled with white automatically, so transparency is not an issue when uploading.

Troubleshooting

Common issues & fixes

If your upload is rejected, one of these is usually the reason.

  • Signature file exceeds size limit

    What you see

Portal shows "Signature file size must be under 20 KB" or similar.

    How to fix it

This tool automatically compresses your signature to under 20 KB. Re-process and download again.

  • Background not white or off-white

    What you see

Portal rejects the signature or the preview shows a coloured/dark background.

    How to fix it

Sign on a clean sheet of plain white paper. Avoid ruled notebooks or coloured paper. Photograph in bright, even lighting (no shadows over the signature).

  • Signature is too faint or not legible

    What you see

Automated check flags "Signature not detected" or the scanned signature is barely visible.

    How to fix it

Use a black or dark blue ball-point or gel pen. Avoid felt-tip pens that bleed. Make sure lighting is even and there are no shadows across the signature.

  • Signature dimensions rejected

    What you see

Portal shows "Signature must be 140 × 60 pixels" or similar dimension error.

    How to fix it

This tool resizes your signature image to exactly 140 × 60 pixels. Use the processed download, not your original scanned file.

  • Lines or marks around the signature

    What you see

The portal or verifier flags "Signature contains ruled lines or marks".

    How to fix it

Sign on blank white paper, not on a ruled or printed page. Leave at least 1 cm of blank white space on all sides of your signature before scanning or photographing.

Frequently asked questions

What signature size does Aadhaar update require?
UIDAI requires a signature image of 140x60 pixels, JPEG format, under 50 KB for the Aadhaar update portal. The same specification applies to the PAN card application on the NSDL or UTIITSL portal.
Can I use a phone photo of my signature instead of a scan?
Yes. Place your signature on white paper in good natural light, photograph it flat, and upload the image. The tool crops and compresses it to the required size. A scanner gives a cleaner result, but a phone photo works.
Will a PNG signature work on the Aadhaar portal?
The Aadhaar portal expects JPEG. Upload your PNG here and the tool converts it to JPEG and compresses it under 50 KB before you download.
Does this work for state income tax portal signature uploads?
Most state income tax portals follow the same 140x60 pixel, 50 KB JPEG standard. A file prepared with this tool should be accepted.
Do I also need to resize my photo for Aadhaar update?
Yes. Aadhaar update requires a passport-size photo as well. Use Aadhaar Photo for the photo and prepare the signature here before starting the form.
