Signature Resize to 10KB
Resize your scanned signature to 140x60 px and compress it under 10 KB for strict government portal uploads. Free.
Quick start
Done in 3 steps
- 1
Upload your signature image
Open the file from your phone or computer. Works with JPEG, PNG, and WebP. If you scanned your signature, upload the scan directly.
- 2
Scaled to 140x60 and compressed under 10 KB
Your signature is scaled down to 140x60 pixels. Then the tool compresses it to fit under 10 KB. This is a strict limit, so use a clear, high-contrast signature for the best result.
- 3
Download and attach to your form
Save the JPEG. Go to your state government or central portal and attach this file in the signature upload field.

Requirements
Digital Signature Requirements (10 KB)
Certain state government portals and older central government systems cap the signature upload at 10 KB. At this size, image quality depends almost entirely on the original scan quality.
- Dimensions
- 140 × 60 px
- Format
- JPEG
- Max file size
- 10 KB
- Resolution
- 96 DPI
- Background
- Plain white paper only. Any background texture or colour will worsen quality at 10 KB.
Additional requirements
- Use a dark black or dark blue pen. At 10 KB, contrast matters most. Light or faded ink will not survive the compression.
- Keep at least 10 mm of white space on all four sides when cropping the signature image.
- Scan at 300 DPI if possible, or photograph in natural daylight for the sharpest result.
- The signature area must be completely clean. Any ruled lines, stray marks, or smudges will show up at this file size.
- Keep your signature within the central 80% of the image frame. Edges get cropped during resizing.

Troubleshooting
Common issues & fixes
If your upload is rejected, one of these is usually the reason.
Signature file exceeds size limit
What you see
Portal shows "Signature file size must be under 20 KB" or similar.
How to fix it
This tool automatically compresses your signature to under 20 KB. Re-process and download again.
Background not white or off-white
What you see
Portal rejects the signature or the preview shows a coloured/dark background.
How to fix it
Sign on a clean sheet of plain white paper. Avoid ruled notebooks or coloured paper. Photograph in bright, even lighting (no shadows over the signature).
Signature is too faint or not legible
What you see
Automated check flags "Signature not detected" or the scanned signature is barely visible.
How to fix it
Use a black or dark blue ball-point or gel pen. Avoid felt-tip pens that bleed. Make sure lighting is even and there are no shadows across the signature.
Signature dimensions rejected
What you see
Portal shows "Signature must be 140 × 60 pixels" or similar dimension error.
How to fix it
This tool resizes your signature image to exactly 140 × 60 pixels. Use the processed download, not your original scanned file.
Lines or marks around the signature
What you see
The portal or verifier flags "Signature contains ruled lines or marks".
How to fix it
Sign on blank white paper, not on a ruled or printed page. Leave at least 1 cm of blank white space on all sides of your signature before scanning or photographing.
Frequently asked questions
- Which portals require a signature under 10 KB?
- Several state government portals and some older central government recruitment sites set a 10 KB cap for signature uploads. If your portal shows a 10 KB error, this is the right tool.
- Will the signature still look clear at 10 KB?
- Yes, if the original is well-lit with dark ink on white paper. A dark blue or black pen on clean white gives the best result after compression. Faint or grey signatures may lose legibility.
- What format should I use for a 10 KB signature?
- JPEG is best for hitting very low file sizes. This tool outputs JPEG automatically. PNG files at 140x60 will almost always exceed 10 KB, so do not try to submit a PNG to a 10 KB portal.
- Do I also need to resize my photo for the same portal?
- Most likely yes. If your portal requires a 10 KB signature, it usually has a separate photo size requirement too. Check whether you need UPSC Photo or any of the exam photo tools.
