Troubleshooting

Common issues & fixes

If your upload is rejected, one of these is usually the reason.

  • Upload rejected — file size too large

    What you see

The portal displays "File size exceeds the allowed limit" or the upload button spins indefinitely.

    How to fix it

This tool automatically compresses your photo to the exact size limit. Re-process your photo and download again — the output will be within the allowed limit.

  • Photo rejected — wrong dimensions

    What you see

The portal shows "Invalid photo dimensions" or "Photo does not meet size requirements".

    How to fix it

Use the correct preset for your exam. This tool resizes your photo to the exact pixel dimensions required — no manual resizing needed.

  • Format not accepted — only JPEG allowed

    What you see

Portal shows "Only JPEG/JPG format accepted" even though your photo looks fine.

    How to fix it

This tool automatically converts PNG, WebP, and other formats to JPEG on download. Ensure you are uploading the file you just downloaded, not your original.

  • Background rejected — not white

    What you see

The portal flags the photo for "incorrect background colour" or the automated check fails.

    How to fix it

This tool cannot change the background of your photo. Retake your photo in front of a plain white or off-white wall in good lighting. Then re-process through this tool.

  • Photo rejected — too old

    What you see

Form submission blocked with "Please upload a recent photograph (within 6 months)".

    How to fix it

Government portals require a recent photo. Use a photo taken within the last 6 months, then process it here.

Frequently asked questions

What photo size does RRB NTPC require?
RRB NTPC requires a photo of 3.5x4.5 cm (413x531 pixels), JPEG format, and under 100 KB. This tool applies those exact specifications and produces a file the RRB portal will accept.
Is RRB Group D photo size the same as NTPC?
Yes. RRB NTPC, RRB Group D, RRC Group C, and RPF Constable all use the same photo dimensions. One processed file works for all of them.
What background is required for Railway recruitment photos?
White background, plain. No patterns, no outdoor settings. Face forward with a neutral expression. Railway recruitment boards are fairly strict about background quality on the admit card photo.
Do I also need to upload my signature for Railway applications?
Yes. RRB and RRC applications require a separate signature image at 140x60 pixels, under 20 KB. Prepare it with Signature 20KB and upload it alongside the photo.
Can I use this tool for RPF Constable applications?
Yes. RPF Constable, RPF Sub-Inspector, and RRC Group C applications all follow the same photo size requirement as other Railway exams.
